I made this the other night and it was actually good.
Not as good as the sangria I had at Cha Cha Cha in LA.
But still much better than restaurant sangria I've had at overpriced tapas places in DC, Austin, and NYC.
1/2 cup brandy
1/4 cup lemon juice (I used fresh)
1/3 cup frozen lemonade concentrate
1/3 cup orange juice
1 (750 milliliter) bottle dry red wine
1/2 cup triple sec
1 lemon, sliced into rounds
1 orange, sliced into rounds
1 lime, sliced into rounds
1/4 cup white sugar (optional)
8 maraschino cherries
In a large pitcher or bowl, mix together the brandy, lemon juice, lemonade concentrate, orange juice, red wine, triple sec, and sugar. Float slices of lemon, orange and lime, and maraschino cherries in the mixture.
The original recipe recommends marinating overnight in the fridge but it actually tasted better freshly made. The overnighting dulled the fruitiness and yumminess for me. Also, they tell you to add ginger ale or club soda if u're into fizzy sangria or sweeter sangri. When I added the former right before serving, it diluted the taste as well as killed the sweetness. I say keep the intensity and just add ice.
Lemme know if you like it.
